From the lane assistant to traffic sign recognition – driver assistance systems have become an essential part of modern vehicles. Our ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) experts are involved in the development and integration of such systems. We offer a full range of services related to the development and validation of functions for driving dynamics and driver assistance. For example, we develop modern user interfaces and complex mathematical methods and algorithms. In doing so, we realize all relevant components of modern driver information and driver assistance systems.

Autonomous driving is the next evolutionary step. Numerous development steps remain to be completed on the way to full autonomous driving. The expert team in our Autonomous Driving Innovation Center focuses on this future topic.

Model-based development of steering systems

Features and algorithms for steering control and other safety-critical driver assistance systems were developed for the model kit of an automobile manufacturer. Model-based work was performed with MATLAB and Simulink among others.

The development speed was also increased in the course of the project by implementing SCRUM methods. This allowed software tests to be conducted more easily and quickly.

Piloted parking test facility

We provided the full scope of test facility services for the validation of a remote-controlled parking function. The project encompassed all activities relevant for validation such as test management, configuration management, test case preparation and implementation, and test execution. Scene catalogues for parking scenes were prepared, reference scenes added and the updating and conversion of vehicles was performed.

In order to further automate test execution, a control for automated operation of the vehicle key was developed in the course of the project.

Steering software validation

Vehicle tests for different vehicle derivatives were coordinated and carried out in the course of steering development. The project encompassed coordination of the software being tested, planning the test drives and coordination of required updates and conversions. Furthermore, the driving tests were carried out according to specifications and the steering systems tested in the vehicle.

Virtual test process

The validation of driver assistance systems on actual roads is elaborate and not reproducible. Validation is therefore performed in a simulator on the basis of trials. The project scope encompassed setting up simulators, connecting the driver assistance systems and preparing tools (map conversion for example). Scenarios were prepared for conducting trials and support was provided for carrying out the trials.

Driver assistance systems test concept and test management

Our team looked after the management of all testing and validation activities for the validation of safety-critical driver assistance systems (parking manoeuvre assistant, lane change warning and so on). This included test concept preparation according to ISO 26262, developing a comprehensive validation concept and preparing the process descriptions according to ISO 9001.

Traceability had to be ensured in the course of the project. Test execution was also controlled and the required approval documents were prepared.
